This is the Mekong a few kilometers down river from Luang Prabang. It was my third boat ride on the storied river in the third country I'd passed through and my third time to get caught in the rain.
The Mekong continues to dominate the region as it has since the beginning. There is great fear among those who make a life on the river that the Chinese will someday damn it all up far to the north bringing and end to the hitherto timeless flow.
